We’re on a Texas adventure. We started with a Wilderness Volunteer week in the Big Thicket near Kountze, Texas.

When the week was over, we headed west. We stopped to enjoy the view of the high bridge over the Pecos River just upstream from the Rio Grande.

We headed to Big Bend where we hiked the Boot Canyon Trail as my boot came apart.

After a drive by the Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Frijole Ranch, we headed north to one of my favorite stretches of Texas highway. The view of Palo Duro Canyon is surprising and breathtaking as the flat of the high plains suddenly plunges into the canyon.

We’re in Raton, New Mexico tonight heading for Breckenridge, Colorado tomorrow for nephew Erik’s wedding!

 More birds at Bamurru.

On the airboat, we found many nests of Magpie Geese. Two females and one male build a nest of hollow grasses that floats atop the floodplain water.

We had another colorful sunset as our time at Bamurru ended.

We flew back to Darwin in another wee plane. We did have nice weather and good views of the coast.

On our afternoon walk in Darwin, we passed by Christ Church Anglican Cathedral, quite different from the other cathedrals we have visited, and locked. Photo of the interior is through a window.

We fly to Sidney tomorrow and then home on Sunday. Travel is wonderful, but there’s no place like home!

We took a drive around safari before a stunning sunset.

And a photo of us taken by a fellow traveler.
