Today we had our first excursion ashore on Antarctica. Our morning excursion became a Zodiac cruise only because of too much ice in the area we were to go ashore. In the afternoon, we were able to go for a hike near Orne Harbour. We saw Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins. We saw humpback whales along the way. Today was clear and mild and beautiful - a one in a thousand Antarctic summer day.
