Second time's the charm! We just finished a lovely dinner in Cuzco. Let me tell you a little about getting here -

We spent the night in a very nice hotel in Lima. After our long wait in line, we crammed into a taxi with 4 other travelers from our flight, all Brazilians. Two young women had been just in front of us in the line and were traveling together. The other 2 Brazilians were 2 young men who are backpacking the route we are taking. They called what we are doing "glamping" for glamour camping. They didn't know each other or the 2 young women, they had a great time visiting and entertaining us on the cab ride to our hotel. We stayed in a very nice hotel. Dinner was interesting because the Sunday night skeleton crew was totally unprepared for the onslaught of 200 or so weary travelers from our flight. The same can be said of lunch today. We all needed to leave for the airport at noon so they had told us we could eat lunch beginning at 10:30. They should have told the kitchen! Actually, they quickly repurposed some leftovers from breakfast and served us a nice lunch. They the 7 of us headed back to the airport. The line at the airport was not too chaotic, and we quickly checked in and checked our luggage.
Charlotte caught up with her e-mail while we waited.

Charlotte took this picture of the mountains poking up through the clouds.

It was completely clear but was better than yesterday.

We got close enough to believe we'd be successful this time.

The tricky landing is in sight. The crew got a loud ovation when the plane touched down! There were even some tears of relief and joy.
