After a quick stay in Oslo, we boarded the train to Bergen yesterday morning. The seven-hour trip took us through some rolling farm country, across the tundra with views of some of Norway’s glaciers, along rushing rivers with some spectacular waterfalls, and back down to Bergen on the coast.

We boarded the Viking Mars in time for a late (for us) supper. Our stateroom is lovely and roomy. We are delighted to be able to unpack our suitcases after 2 weeks of living out of them. We have a functioning thermostat in our cabin – a first on this trip.

Our excursion this morning is “A Taste of Bergen”, a walking and tasting tour. I’m looking forward to some delicious fish!
