After 2 days of inability to get onto this space - Eurika! We are on day three in Australia. I’ll try to catch you up. The flight is exhausting, but after a good night’s sleep, we had a lovely view as the sun rose over Melbourne.
We spent yesterday sightseeing. Our first stop was the Roman Catholic St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It is beautiful and beautifully maintained.
Next was a visit to the Anglican St. Paul’s Cathedral. The original architect envisioned a church without a spire, but when he resigned during construction, the new architect added a spire albeit of a different color sandstone. The organ is the best remaining example of London organ builder T C Lewis. There are outstanding mosaics of marble and alabaster and glass.
