Today took us 300 miles along the Alaska-Canada Highway. We are spending the night in Ft. Nelson in British Columbia. Ft. Nelson has the farthest north traffic light in British Columbia (for your next trivia night).

Shortly after leaving Dawson Creek (at mile 17), we detoured to the "Old Alaska Highway" to see the only remaining original timber bridge still in use along the Alaska Highway. It is 531 feet long and spans the Kiskatinaw River (You might enjoy Modern Marvels Season 9, Episode 4 about building the highway).

Another valley, another bridge - this bridge crosses the Peace River near Fort St. John -

Farther along, here is one of several burned areas we passed. These areas will takes decades to recover.

On this clear, beautiful day, the Rockies soon came back in view -

And what is a day on the Al-Can without a bear or two?

It's been quite a while since I up-dated our position on the map. These 2 shots show our progress over the past several days.

It is warm enough to enjoy having our windows open. Tomorrow is a short day to Muncho Lake Provincial Park.
