The Canada WiFi genie has been at it again. But, here in Dawson City in the Yukon, we are back in touch.

We had a beautiful drive yesterday. The road from Haines to Haines Junction is stunning:

Part of the way was above tree line.

And what would we do without a little rain?

Today we set off from Carmacks along the Yukon River.

The Yukon River runs beside Dawson City and was an important transportation link during the Klondike Gold Rush.

Here is the ferry crossing over to the Top of the World Highway. The ferry is free of charge thanks to the Canadian government. There is no bridge here.

After a walk through downtown Dawson City, we stopped for ice cream!

Today was a lazy day with no driving as we spent the day in Haines. We took a walk downtown this morning looking for a part to fix the plumbing on the RV. We didn't find the part, but Norman fixed it anyway! Yippee for him - makes life much nicer.

After fixing the plumbing, we did laundry in a very nice facility at the RV park. This sign made me think of my friend and Beacon laundry buddy, Flo. We do have fun - and work hard.

Here is the view from our dinner at Firewood. The food and scenery were both wonderful.

And here is the super RV repairman:)

The sun is still pretty high in the sky (sunset at about 10:45pm), but here is a picture.

Oh wow! After too long without access to good WiFi, the blog and I are back! We are now in Haynes, Alaska. In the intervening days, we have been to Iskut in British Columbia, up to the Alcan highway with a stop in Teslin in the Yukon. This morning we drove to Skagway, Alaska and took the ferry to Haynes. I'll just share some lovely pictures:

Here we are lined up for today's ferry ride. More tomorrow, I hope!

We retraced our path back along the Skeena to the turnoff at Kitwanga.

The clouds gathered as we drove east.

We could see mountains in the distance - and clouds.

Much of the traffic we encounter is log trucks loaded and headed to the lumber mills.

When we turned off toward Stewart, we saw snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Their tops were in the clouds.

Is it snowing up there?

The drive from the Meziadin Junction is beautiful as it follows the Bear River.

Numerous waterfalls feed the creeks that feed the river.

The road crosses the Bear River several times.

This is the Bear Glacier. The turquoise color is more pronounced than it looks here.

One final crossing of the Bear River brought us into Stewart and the Bear River RV Park for the night. Pictures of the town of Stewart will be on tomorrow's post.

We are far enough north that we have very little true darkness. Here is a picture taken about 9:30 last night as we took a final stroll around the RV park before turning in:

The drive to Prince Rupert started out with nice bright sky. We followed the Skeena River, swollen from snow melt.

Before long, the clouds began to gather over the mountains.

And then the rain began again. Here is another view along the Skeena.

After vetoing the first RV park, we found one in the city of Prince Rupert. The rain stopped after lunch so we were able to have a walk around town. As you see, the clouds never lifted.

I know some of you won't be reading this until Friday, and that is Kate's birthday! Kate Musica is our wonderful daughter-in-law. Happy birthday! We love you.

At last, a sunny day!

As we drove NW on the Yellowhead Highway, the mountains came into view.

The closer we got to New Hazelton, the more beautiful the views of the mountains.

We also enjoyed  the many Dandelions blooming along the roadway and in the roadside pastures.

Once we were settled in the 'Ksai RV Campground, we walked the short distance to the 'Ksai Historic Village. This is the Bulkley River beside the village.

and looking back at the village, a reconstructed Gitxsan village of traditional style buildings.

This totem pole is at the entrance.

Norman is standing beside the Skeena River near where it is joined by the Bulkley.
