It's the afternoon of day three, and we are back to Wifi and
a new post.
Day two ended up being longer than expected after we picked
up a screw in one of our tires. We found a place to fix the tire in North Branch
(A 1 Tire in case you find yourself stranded north of St. Paul, Minnesota). Not
everyone that fixes tires is able to work on a vehicle the size of our RV so it
took a little searching and 40 or so miles of backtracking. We lost a couple of
hours so arrived at our destination late; Cascade River State Park was pretty
basic, but we were happy to have a dry place after a rainy day and rainier
night.
We took a short hike along the Cascade River this morning. Don’t
know what the falls usually look like, but, after some really heavy rainfall in
the area, the river was a raging torrent. I hope the sound comes through with
the video. It was a chilly but beautiful hike.
We continued our drive along the north shore of Lake
Superior. We stopped at the Grand Portage National Monument. The park has a
short film that tells the history of the Ojibwe people and the French and
English traders. This was a center of international commerce that we knew
little about so were glad we had stopped.
Continuing north, we crossed the border into Canada at the Pigeon River border crossing. After lunch along the road, we drove to Wabigoon, Ontario for tonight. This part of Canada has had flooding rains. All the creeks and rivers seem to be at flood stage. The roads we have traveled have been clear except for one short stretch where both shoulders and one lane of the highway was underwater. The highway ministry was on hand to assure safe travel on the one lane portion of the road. This afternoon is sunny and warm. We are hoping the weather forecast for more rain tonight and the next few days is mistaken!
And as requested, some more pictures of our RV home.

Yes, I could hear the water in the video! Very impressive. - Kate
