Day 12 – Monday, May 23, 2022
Gary asked me to do the math to let you know what the cost
of gas is in US dollars. There are 3.8 liters in a gallon. And 1 US dollar will
buy you $1.28 Canadian. Gas in British Columbia is $1.94 CD/liter. That works
out to $5.75/gal in US dollars. We get 10.4 miles per gallon! The 2500 miles we
have driven have cost $1382 US dollars. Okay, I don’t want to think about that
anymore!
We had a longish but lovely drive to Fort Nelson, BC this
morning. It was light when we woke at 5:00am so we got an early start. The scenery
is spectacular. The Peace River valley is dramatic with its aqua highway bridge.
Off to the west, we got glimpses of the snowy peaks of the Northern Rockies.
My black eye is the result of a fall on the golf course yesterday. As I was walking along, I reached to pick up a ball and tripped over my own feet. My right shoulder actually got the worst of it; the pain was instantly excruciating. Though really sore, it is much better today. We feel blessed that I didn’t break anything!

Ouch! Glad you weren't more badly hurt. Take it easy and heal quickly! - Kate
